‘Parlour At The End Of The Scaffolding'

It feels fantastic
To see you again
We can't be thirty-six
Years of age

Oh, why do I walk
With you, crying in the rain
When it hurts me more
To explain?

I am ecstatic
And so slightly ashamed
That all our common characteristics
Still remain

Oh, why do I talk
Until I'm purple in the face
When I know that all
The same

You'll say I've made
A terrible mistake.
