‘No Way Of Turning It Off '

The healing power of music?
These tunes won't mend your soul
It's not desperation for approval –
It's simply lust for control

Only the chosen few know
How true adoration glows
In Chicago

When she walks into the room
There's no space left to move
When she opens her mouth to speak
No oxygen remains to breathe
And when she starts to sing
Other living organisms cease to exist

And there's nothing you can do about it

Please don't treat me like an employee –
What stake do you have in my life?
Please don't treat me like a cunt –
How does your virtue transcend mine?

The transcendental glitz of the show
Paints our ‘ordinary' lives with woe
In Chicago

Look not in those gimlet eyes -
He's had a charmed rise
But he's still had it so much worse than you
Simply because the ‘gifted' do
So prepare to be crushed beneath a deluge of
Endless narcissistic shtick about this ‘little boy lost'

And there's no way of turning it off

Only the chosen few know
How true adoration glows
In Chicago

The transcendental glitz of the show
Paints our ‘ordinary' lives with woe
In Chicago

Chicago town –
Tiny Chicago town.
