‘Lovebreakdown'
Another hollow promise of ‘better days'
To follow the last million down the drain
The sheer intangibility fucks with my brain
More tiresome spiel about a ‘new chrome dawn'
I might feel grateful just for being born
If I had any idea what we are living for
In your palatial fortress in the sky
Have you ever stopped and wondered why
Any good feeling ultimately dies?
In your cotton wool-wrapped head in the clouds
Have you ever paused to fathom how
Consistently and easily the love breaks down?
Another ‘prodigal son' who won't change things;
The latest media whore to give fair play a miss
In favour of a grotesque display of self-service
A ‘new bright hope' that refuses to shine;
The next self-obsessed failure in line
Has anyone started to read the signs?
In your palatial fortress in the sky
Have you ever stopped and wondered why
Any good feeling ultimately dies?
In your cotton wool-wrapped head in the clouds
Have you ever paused to fathom how
Consistently and easily the love breaks down?
There's no hope for the future
The most positive prospect is doubt
The parasites have used up
All resources of trust now
There's no hope for the future
And I am getting out
I am getting out
In your palatial fortress in the sky
Have you ever stopped and wondered why
Any good feeling ultimately dies?
In your cotton wool-wrapped head in the clouds
Have you ever paused to fathom how
Consistently and easily the love breaks down?
